History of Florentine Cuisine
Did you know the history of Florentine cooking started with an Italian noblewoman marrying the King of France? Catherine de’ Medici was married to King Henry of France in 1533. She was so homesick that she brought her favorites from the Florence region of Italy to be a part of French Cuisine as we know it today, particularly the use of spinach in the Florentine style of cooking.
Mobile Meals Spinach Salad
Ingredients
- 5 ounces fresh baby spinach
- 2 small apples, cored and thinly sliced
- Half of a small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
- 1/3 cup dried cranberries
- 3 ounces crumbled goat cheese
Method
Toss spinach, apples, red onions, walnuts, and cranberries together in a non-reactive bowl with ¼ Cup of vinaigrette dressing and top with crumbled goat cheese.
