About Us

Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona, Inc. began in 1968 as a project of Meals on Wheels, when a grant was received to provide a more robust, special diet, meal delivery service to older persons than what Meals on Wheels offered. In 1970, when the grant ended, a core group of volunteers including those from the Pima County Medical Society Auxiliary, wanted to continue this service. And that’s when Mobile Meals of Tucson was born. We became Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona in 2017, to better reflect our geographic service area and the Board’s vision for growth in the decades to come. In 2021, our Board made a big decision to purchase our first property, to build our own Kitchen and source meals from it.

In July 2023, our new MMSA Kitchen opened, with the promise of offering food choice and affordable meal options to anyone who needs them. We are delighted to do our part to make things better for our neighbors by offering affordable, high-quality meals to reduce food insecurity in our community.
