FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tucson, AZ – June 29, 2023 – Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona, a local nonprofit that has been combating hunger in the Tucson community for over 50 years, is pleased to announce a generous matching gift challenge of $25,000 from Tucson Electric Power (TEP). The Tucson Electric Power Matching Gift Challenge aims to raise funds towards the new Mobile Meals Kitchen, which will have the capacity to produce more than 400,000 meals annually to feed the hungry.
Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona is a lifeline for many vulnerable community members, delivering meals directly to the homes of seniors, individuals with disabilities, and others who face challenges accessing nutritious food. This crucial program not only nourishes their bodies but also provides a friendly visit and social connection that can alleviate feelings of isolation and improve their overall well-being.
“Hunger is a growing problem that continues to put stress on the most vulnerable members of our community, especially among our elders,” said Wendy Erica Werden, Manager of TEP Community Investment. “It’s a problem that we can end together by providing support to feed our neighbors in need, and ensure they have a friendly visit from a compassionate volunteer.”
Tucson Electric Power has always been committed to making a positive impact in the community, and in this spirit has pledged to match every dollar donated to Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona this summer, up to an incredible $25,000. This matching gift challenge presents an exciting opportunity for supporters of our cause to double the impact of their contributions and help us reach our goal of completing the new kitchen.
“On behalf of Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona, I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Tucson Electric Power for their unwavering commitment to the Tucson community,” said Roger Clark, Board President of Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona, “Their invaluable support is a beacon of hope for those facing hunger, enabling us to continue our mission of providing nutritious meals to the most vulnerable members of our society, and exemplifies the true spirit of community engagement.”
